D0100 - CEC Life Cycle Analysis
Version 7.3 by Uwe Trueggelmann on 2022-07-16
Introduction
While preparing the cecAP with the required information, the Vendor is required to conduct a life cycle analysis of the Product the Vendor seeks certification for.
A Vendor has different options how to conduct such life cycle analysis:
- The Vendor conducts all the necessary activities themselves, including obtaining all the data needed for the various calculations; typically this involves acquiring a license for a LCA modeling software like GaBi or Simapro and a license for an LCA database like EcoInvent.
- The Vendor engages a LCA consultancy which has access to a LCA modeling software and database.
- The Vendor utilizes the CEC LifeCycle Assessment support.
It is the Vendor's decision if and which of the options they chose to prepare their data.
CEC LifeCycle Assessment support ("CEC LCA support")
The CEC LCA support process is an optional process within the CEC scheme. It is offered to Vendors intending to obtain CEC Certification for one of their products, and has the following objectives:
- Providing a cost effective option to enable Vendors to present a CEC compliant Product System and CEC data during the CEC Assessment
- Standardizing the way the CEC Indicators are determined and presented.
